CUUATS Seeking to Transform Area Transportation Options with Help from Champaign-Urbana-Savoy Residents

Transportation is certain to see numerous impactful changes over the next 25 years, and now the Champaign-Urbana Urbanized Area Transportation Study (CUUATS) wants to know how area residents would like to improve transportation in the region. A program of the RPC, CUUATS updates its Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) every five years and will wrap up the LRTP 2050 planning process at the end of 2024. They are seeking ideas about how to improve area transportation and encourage all residents to provide ideas—big and small.

Residents can join CUUATS staff at planned public events from late April through July to share their transportation needs and priorities. So far CUUATS has confirmed booths at:

CUUATS will also have a short online survey open from April 25-July 31. You can access that by clicking here.

The LRTP includes all current transportation modes—including roads, bicycle paths, sidewalks, public transit, rail, and air—as well as potential modes such as high-speed rail. It must include transportation projects for which there will be funding in the next 25 years but can also include projects that do not have anticipated funding. CUUATS staff invites residents to dream big about their future transportation system and appreciates the community’s help in this effort to gather public comments regarding regional transportation planning processes.
