FGDC Metadata Workshop

CCGISC

As the use and development of geospatial data has become an integral part of our society, it is vital that users understand the advantages and limitations of geospatial data layers. The FGDC (Federal Geographic Data Committee) promotes and endorses metadata standards used to document the content, quality, condition, and other characteristics of geospatial data.

Metadata has a bad reputation and is typically treated as an afterthought that is unnecessary and time-consuming. At the workshop, we will discuss why metadata is vital to your workflow and provide you with the tools and knowledge to create and maintain metadata efficiently. While a number of metadata creation and editing programs exist, this workshop will focus on the use of the FGDC metadata editor in ArcGIS.

This is a free workshop offered at 4 different locations and dates. The workshop will be from 8:45am to 4pm, with an hour for lunch which will be on your own.

These workshops are made possible through a NSDI (National Spatial Data Infrastructure) CAP grant.
