Head Start is a federal program that promotes the school readiness of children ages 5 and under from low-income families by enhancing their cognitive, social, and emotional development. The program promotes family strengths for children’s long-term benefit.
- Has a $5 million budget: Head Start, Early Head Start, IL State Board of Education, Child-Adult Care Food Program, Full-day Child Care, Champaign County Developmental Disabilities Board.
- Has 106 staff members: 62 teaching staff, 12 family advocates, six bus drivers, three cooks, three clerks, four partnership mentors, one family services specialist, one mental health specialist, a secretary, and 13 managers.
