Champaign County Head Start serves families within the context of the community, and recognizes that many other agencies and groups work with the same families. Champaign County Head Start collaborates with partners in order to provide the highest level of services to children and families, to foster the development of a continuum of family centered services, and to advocate for a community that shares responsibility for the healthy development of children and families of all cultures.

Champaign County Head Start/Early Head Start works with each family in determining family strengths and goals. By focusing on those strengths and connecting with community resources, we assist the family in reaching self-identified goals outlined in a Family Partnership Agreement. Family Advocates are available at each site to provide referrals, emergency assistance and/or crisis intervention.

Because Champaign County Head Start/Early Head Start believes that parents are the primary educators of their children, parent involvement is an essential part of the program. The Champaign County Head Start Policy Council and site Parent Committees work in partnership with the management staff and governing body to help make decisions in program planning.
