Report Writing for Patrol

This seminar will focus on basic skills necessary for writing sensible and concise police reports.  Participants will learn how to recognize errors in grammar, spelling and punctuation and how to compose narratives that are coherent and complete.  Unique issues relating to use of force reporting will be addressed.

The seminar will be conducted a veteran police instructor with extensive experience in writing, correcting and approving reports for investigations and general patrol.  He has developed and taught a variety of in-service classes for North East Multi-Regional Training (NEMRT) out of North Aurora.

        Required Elements of a Complete Report
        Parts of Speech and Sentence Structure
        Common Language Errors
        Proper Grammar, Spelling and Punctuation
        Narrative Styles and Structure
        Traffic Crash Reports
        Use of Force Reporting
        Student Assessments / Practical Exercises
