This 2-day course will provide a
comprehensive examination of search and seizure law in a manner that integrates
and reconciles new cases with existing doctrine. Both days will be devoted
exclusively to search and seizure issues, allowing ample opportunity for
student-instructor interaction.
Instruction will include recent as well as landmark decisions from federal and
Illinois courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court. Illinois cases
currently pending on appeal which could significantly impact police practices
will also be examined. Search and
seizure issues related to terrorism and terrorism investigations will be
addressed.
This project is supported by Homeland Security funds awarded by the Illinois
Terrorism Task Force through the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards
Board Executive Institute.
