Domenic Cappelluti
Domenic Cappelluti is a
detective with the Waukegan Police Department and is currently assigned to the
Lake County Major Crime Task Force as Group Supervisor. He has more than
13 years of law enforcement experience and supervised a gang suppression unit
for seven years. Domenic specializes in high profile violent crimes, such
as gang related homicides and murder for hire cases on gang and drug officers.
He also participates on a multi-jurisdictional team that investigates officer
involved shootings.
Domenic has investigated hundreds of gang and drug related operations throughout
Lake County and the Chicago metropolitan area, primarily targeting Chicago-based
street gangs in Waukegan. He has lectured on gang enforcement at several
universities and other venues across Illinois and has testified as an expert
witness on gang homicides and violent crimes. In addition, he conducts
in-service training programs on interview/interrogation techniques and homicide
investigation for local police and federal agents throughout the country.
Domenic is fluent in Spanish and Italian and has conducted thousands of
interviews - including interrogations in Spanish with Hispanic street gang
members. He is a Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI) and the recipient of
numerous prestigious awards for his accomplishments in homicide investigation
and urban gang enforcement.
