Deputy J.R. Meeker
Deputy J.R.
Meeker has over 12 years experience in law enforcement. He previously
worked for the Ford County Sheriff's Office and Tolono Police Department, and
has been with the Champaign County Sheriff's Office since 1997. His
assignments have included patrol, SWAT and field training. Deputy Meeker
has made over 500 DUI arrests and has been recognized frequently for DUI
enforcement in the community.
In 2000, Deputy Meeker
became an adjunct instructor for the Police Training Institute, teaching many
subjects including Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST), Traffic Stops,
Courtroom Testimony, Patrol Operations, and IL Vehicle Code. He
has developed DUI instructional materials that are used throughout the State,
and he is an expert witness on DUI matters. He is also certified to teach
many law enforcement instructor courses including Traffic Stops, SFST, Monadnock
Expandable Baton, and Control Holds.
