Program Purpose

The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Scholarships are awarded to assist low-income persons to obtain post-secondary education as a means to increase self-sufficiency.

About the Program

Since 1986, the Community Services Block Grant Scholarship Program has been administered by the Regional Planning Commission with funds from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. The Champaign County Regional Planning Commission anticipates having approximately $5,000 to distribute to students to assist with educational expenses for the 2005-2006 academic year. Typical scholarship amounts range between $400-1000 per student per year depending on the amount of CSBG funds available and the number of qualified applicants. The CSBG Scholarship is a competitive scholarship. All applicants are not guaranteed to receive financial assistance.
