LIHEAP Winter Heating Benefit

new LIHEAP will offer a winter heating benefit to assist with electric bills beginning September 1st. To be eligible for the benefit a household must meet the 2015 Income Guidelines.

Eligible clients are as follows:

  • Beginning September 1st:
    • Household with household member 60+, or
    • Household with household member receiving Disability benefit, or Social Security Disability application pending
  • Beginning October 1st:
    • Household with household member 60+, or
    • Household with household member receiving Disability benefit, or Social Security Disability application pending, or
    • Household with gas and/or electric service Disconnected
  • Beginning November 1st:
    • All eligible households that meet income guidelines

Appointments:

  • We will schedule appointments until funds run out. Walk in or call. Our office hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday.
  • Outreach appointments will be scheduled for outreach sites or homebound clients.

The following items are mandatory to process your application:

  • Proof of income for the past 30 days for all household members
  • Social Security cards for all household members
  • Most recent gas and electric bill (disconnect notice if within 7 days of disconnection)
  • Medical cards, if anyone receives this benefit
  • Proof of age or disability, if in a priority period

Appplicants with incomplete documentation will need to reschedule their appointments, and applications with incomplete documentation will not be processed until all documents are received.
