About the Program

AARP Tax-Aide, the IRS and the Champaign County Regional Planning Commission are coordinating their efforts to provide taxpayers free tax counseling, preparation of returns and electronic-filing. Taxpayers do not need to be retirees or members of AARP to use this service. However, tax counselors are trained to prepare returns only to a certain level. If a return is beyond the scope of their training, counselors will refer taxpayers to see qualified tax professionals. Special consideration is given to those senior citizens and disabled taxpayers who are homebound by scheduling home visits with certified tax counselors. Call Nora Sage at 328-3313 to arrange.
